EQ Conversations: Time for a Change

On June 11, Equilibrium proudly hosted EQ Conversations: Time for a Change in honour of the International Day of Women in Mining. This event brought together nearly 100 attendees and a panel of industry leaders. The session sparked honest and solutions-focused dialogue on how the mining sector can advance gender equity in real and practical ways.

Moderated by Equilibrium’s CEO, Karen Moffitt, the panel featured four respected leaders whose insights anchored the conversation:

  • Karyn Gallant, Global Operations Lead – Equilibrium Mining
  • Jo-Anne Dudley, Director – Miner Ventures / Ora Banda Mining
  • Karl Lawrence, Chief Technical Officer – Equilibrium Mining
  • Graham Crook, Chief Advisor – Resource Development – Rio Tinto

The discussion explored the barriers that continue to hinder progress, the crucial role of leadership in shaping inclusive culture, and the everyday actions that drive meaningful change. From amplifying quieter voices to rethinking traditional ideas of “culture fit,” the conversation was a powerful reminder that inclusion is not a side issue but a business imperative.
